DL E&C announced on October 25 that it has entered into a contract for ‘Modernization Project for Block 1 of Bundang Combined Cycle Power Plant. The total project cost is approximately KRW282.8 million, of which DL E&C holds a 90% stake (KRW254.6 billion). The construction period is 44 months from the date of commencement, with completion expected in the 1st half of 2028.

 

Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. placed an order for this project, aiming to modernize an old power plant. Construction of the Bundang Combined Cycle Power Plant began under the Bundan New City Development Plan, with Block 1 completed in 1993 and Block 2 completed in 1997. As the plant has reached its 30-year design life, its facilities of Block 1 and Block 2 will be replaced sequentially. This replacement with high-efficiency facilities will increase power generation capacity from 922MW to 1,014MW, and reduce emissions of pollutants and fine dust generated during the operation of power plant, transforming the plant into an eco-friendly facility. 

 

DL E&C has been awarded the contract for the construction of Block 1. It plans to demolish some structures on the site of the existing power plant, and to construct a 500MW LNG combined cycle power plant. DL E&C is also expecting to win the upcoming contract for Block 2 based on the success of this project. 

 

DL E&C has successfully completed 57 power generation projects since its foundation. In particular, it has a track record on the construction of Songdo Combined Cycle Power Plant, Ganggyo Combined Cycle Power Plant similar to this project, and is currently carrying out the modernization project for Bucheon Combined Cycle Power Plant.
