DL E&C Secures Grade 1 Technology to Reduce Noise between Floors

DL E&C announced on the 8th that the D-Silent 2 floor structure that it had developed demonstrated grade 1 performance, the top level that can reduce noise between floors. DL E&C constructed the floor structure in the e-Pyunhan Sesang being built in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province and carried out performance verification. A nationally authorized testing institution (KOLAS) carried out the experimental measurement of D-Silent 2 and formally recognized the grade 1 performance of the weight impact sound.

The floor weight impact sound is measured with a bang machine that drops a 7.3kg tire structure from a height of 0.9m on<?> the floor. If the noise delivered to the floor is 40dB or less, grade 1 is recognized.

Currently, there is no construction company that has commercialized grade 1 floor structure. Korean apartments are mainly built with a wall-style structure by which weight impact sound control is difficult, so noise reduction is not easy. DL E&C plans to commercialize grade 1 apartments in weight impact sound this year.

“The floor structure that we have developed is a new-concept technology considering performance and constructability, and we have completed the filing of patent. We will continuously carry out R&D to reduce noise between floors, which is drawing social attention,” a source at DL E&C said.

DL E&C has recently developed and successfully commercialized a technology of automatically notifying the household occupants of noise between floors with Wall Pad and mobile device, if noise between floors beyond a certain level is detected. The company plans to guide the residents in the reduction of noise between floors themselves.
