The Daelim Plant Division won on Nov. 6 the HPC (heavy-feed petrochemical complex) construction project ordered by Hyundai Chemical, a joint venture between Hyundai Oil Bank and Lotte Chemical. The project involves building a petrochemical plant that can annually produce 300,000 tons each of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as well as 250,000 tons of polypropylene (PP) in the approximately 500,000㎡ site within the Hyundai Oil Bank plant in Daesan, Chungnam.

Once the plant is completed, various petrochemical products using intermediate crude — the residue of crude oil — can be produced. PP is mainly used for drug bottles or containers or for auto electric/electronic parts due to its excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance. LDPE is used for packing envelopes or wraps. HDPE is used for various containers or insulation materials such as wires. Daelim will carry out the project via the EPC method wherein it is in charge of design, materials and equipment procurement, and construction. The total order amount is KRW 535.4 billion. Construction was started in May 2019 and is slated to be completed in June 2021.
