Daelim Wins Project to Build Vietnam’s O Mon Thermal Power Plant

Daelim won a project worth approximately USD 345 million (Construction Business Division stake: about USD 285 million or KRW 320 billion) to build Vietnam’s O Mon Thermal Power Plant Unit 2 on August 16. This project is being implemented to meet the power demand in Vietnam, which is plagued by power shortage due to the recent rapid economic development. The project was ordered by Can Tho Thermal Power Plant, a subsidiary of EVN (Electricity of Vietnam).

Daelim is scheduled to construct one unit of 330MW gas and oil thermal power plant for power generation during a 36-month construction period in O Mon region, Can Tho Province around Mekong River Delta southeast of Vietnam. The company will be in charge of the supply, construction, and test run of the power block, including detailed engineering that involves basic engineering – regarded as a high value-added, advanced plant area -- in addition to the boilers and main equipment of the power plant.

Leading Vietnam’s power generation market, Daelim succeeded in winning a project to build the power plant after bagging the USD 1.2 billion Thai Binh Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant construction project, the largest in Vietnam, in May 2012. With such achievements, Daelim’s Construction Business Division expects to seize opportunities to ensure competitiveness and win projects in Vietnam and Southeast Asian markets, where demand for power plant construction has recently been on the rise.
