Won the Grand Prize in the Plant Sector at 2012 Overseas Construction Award

Daelim Industrial’s JER site in Saudi Arabia won the grand prize in the plant sector at ‘2012 Overseas Construction Award’ hosted by Money Today on March 20. The award was prepared to prospect for and encourage construction companies who contributed to the demonstration of the superiority of Korea’s construction technologies, in which more than 100 construction industry officials including Dong-Young Choi, a managing director of Daelim’s plant business division, participated.

The JER site is one of 4 package projects which had received from Saudi Arabia in 2009. Daelim won the project to build acidic gas treatment and sulfur recovery facilities on a turn-key base with a total value of USD820 million. This project requires top-notch construction technologies to recover sulfur from acidic gases generated in the process of refining oil. The construction processes at the site are strictly verified on the basis of optimized plans, and the head office is also monitoring the progress in real-time. These efforts make it possible to reduce time and costs, thereby; the construction period is expected to be curtailed by over 1 month.

The construction is now about 90 percent completed, which will be continued until February 2013. The mechanical completion of the first unit will be at the end of this month, and a total of 14 units will be completed until the end of this year.

Daelim is carrying out 8 projects amounting to USD6.6 billion in the world. Last year, the company won new orders for building mammoth refinery and power plant projects with more than KRW1 trillion from the Middle East and Southeast Asia. These performances verifies that Daelim’s is highly recognized for its top-notch construction technologies in the world.
