DL E&C to Build 236 Bill. Worth Cogeneration Plant for S-Oil
a view of S-Oil Plant

- Will be completed in December next year … to generate electricity and steam for the process
DL E&C announced on the 24th that it was awarded with a 236-billion-won-worth cogeneration plant by S-Oil.
The project DL E&C was awarded this time is a cogeneration plant that can generate 121MW of power and 160t of steam per hour. The plant will be completed within the Ulsan complex of S-Oil by December next year, to serve the plant’s own power needs. This project will be executed as an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) project, where DL E&C will be carrying out the entire process on a turn-key basis.
Cogeneration uses natural gas instead of coal as its fuel. Natural gas is known to emit less greenhouse gases and fine dust compared to coal, being considered as a ‘bridging fuel’ in energy transition. In addition, they plan to include a waste heat boiler to generate steam to operate the factory rather than emitting the high-temperature exhaust gas from power generation.
The awarding of this project was made possible by the references and experience of working with S-Oil in the past. DL E&C is currently participating in the Shahin Project, which is to build the biggest petrochemical facility in South Korea as of today, which follows a number of high-profile projects, including the RUC Project of 2018.
Mr. Jaeho Yoo, the Head of the Plant Business Division of DL E&C, said, “We have been recognized by the client for our technical prowess and built trust with them, thanks to which we were awarded this new project.” He added, “In line with the increasing demand for environmentally friendly energy, we will actively increase the awarding of sustainable power generation projects.”
