On the 10th, DL E&C announced that it developed and added a new “AI Automatic Translation System” to its communication platform, ‘Eokedongmu M,’ for the purpose of effective communication with foreign workers.
DL E&C developed and introduced ‘Eokedongmu M,’ a two-way communication platform for managers and workers in 2022. Eokedongmu M is developed with Kakao Talk as the basis. With a chatbot, the system disseminates information such as safety announcements or job-related notifications quickly and easily.

DL E&C added an AI automatic translation service to Eokedongmu M in order to facilitate communication with foreign workers, whose number is recently on the rise in construction sites. This function is powered by an AI service called ‘Chat GPT’ and provides key safety-related announcements, including safety rules to follow at the site and job changes translated into real-time.
Before this service, site managers had to translate Korean notifications into several languages and disseminate them to foreign workers whenever there was a new announcement. With the new automatic translation service, however, the announcements are translated automatically based on the nationality information of foreign workers, such as China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, etc., and disseminated immediately.
With the introduction of the AI automatic translation service, DL E&C expects a boost in safety awareness among foreign workers since safety information can now be provided faster and more accurately. Also, they plan to connect this service with other areas in a construction site, such as their TBM and safety accident notification services, as they continue to promote a safety culture.
DL E&C has already been making various efforts in this area, including producing safety training animation films to inform foreign workers about the hazards in a construction site.
A source in DL E&C said, “It is our goal to ensure that all workers, regardless of their nationalities, can work safely with our help.” He added, “With the AI translation service, we would be able to prevent accidents if we can communicate with foreign workers clearly without language barriers.”
