“Beyond coexistence to mutual growth” -
DL E&C achieved the highest grade in mutual growth evaluation for 5 consecutive years.

- Focused support on technology, workforce and safety, including free rental of high-value equipment like ‘Machine Guidance’
- Third year of running the ‘mutual growth management program for construction industry’, providing support for expansion of safety facility and labor costs

DL E&C announced on the 21st that it has received the highest rating, “Excellent”, for 5 consecutive years in the 2023 win-win index evaluation by the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership.

The win-win index is an indicator that evaluates the large company’s fair trade and cooperative activities for mutual growth, and the satisfaction of partner companies, in order to achieve mutual growth between large and small companies. A total of 44 companies, including DL E&C, were selected as the highest rating in this year’s evaluation on win-win index of 224 large and medium-sized companies.

Given the nature of the construction industry which involves various types of work, the construction industry is highly dependent on partner companies, and thus, there is a great need for strategic fostering of partner companies. DL E&C was highly regarded for playing a key role in supporting the growth of partner companies, particularly those with limited experience and needing investment. Especially, the Company is focusing on providing support in three major areas: technical innovation, fostering of workforce and safety.

As a representative example, DL E&C has been lending 10 units of ‘machine guidance’ to its partner companies at no cost since 2019. This is to help them innovate their technologies and improve their competitiveness with the support for expensive equipment worth tens of millions of KRW per unit. Excavators equipped with Machine Guidance use various sensors and a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) to measure the width and depth of excavation work within a 2cm margin of error, and to display the information on the operator’s monitor. This allows precise work without the need for separate surveying, improving both safety management and work efficiency by over 25%.

DL E&C has also expanded training and consulting for partner companies to help them adapt to industrial transition. The construction industry is undergoing rapid changes in the industrial environment, including artificial intelligence (AI), smart construction technologies such as building information modeling (BIM), and carbon neutrality. DL E&C launched the ‘mutual growth management program for construction industry’ at Chung-Ang University in 2022 to support training for partner companies. This year, the program introduced new courses related to new businesses, such as small modular reactors (SMRs) and hydrogen plants. In particular, 80% of the entire curriculum consists of job training to provide practical help in improving hands-on capabilities. DL E&C’s executives and employees with over 20 years of knowhow participate as instructors to provide customized management consulting and technical guidance to partner companies’ vulnerable areas.

As partner companies are striving to come up with countermeasures for the enforcement the Serious Accident Punishment Act, DL E&C is providing labor cost to partner companies who appoint additional safety manager beyond the legal requirements. Apart from the safety management expenses paid by the client, the Company contributes this budget to ease the management burden of partner companies and to create a safe work environment. In fact, according to a survey on 1,053 companies with less than 50 employees conducted by the Korea Enterprises Federation, one out of 2 responding companies has not yet assigned personnel to handle safety and health duties. DL E&C is also taking care of the safety of its partner companies using smart technologies. It has supported solar-powered mobile rest rooms, accident-free bands (smart watch) that check workers’ health, and LED floodlights, and plans to expand the scale of support in the future.

Sang-Shin Park, the CEO of DL E&C, said, “We will provide direct expenses, as well as training and consulting to offer practical help to our partner companies. We will make every effort to create an environment for mutual growth under the perception of “the growth of our partners is just the growth of DL E&C.”
