- connected smart safety equipment, including worker safety beepers, danger zone sensors and CCTVs
- real-time monitoring of access control, worker location and work in dangerous area
- plans to build a smart communication infrastructure in all areas of the site, and to introduce the platform to all sites

DL E&C announced on September 27 that it has developed an integrated smart safety control platform and will introduce it to the site. This platform integrates the existing safety management, work instructions, access control system, various smart safety devices and CCTVs to identify the workers’ access, real-time location and work status, as well as to monitor various on-site risk factors in real time.

Only pre-registered workers can enter the site after facial recognition, where the integrated smart safety control system has been introduced. They must check whether they have attended the TBM (Toolbox Meeting) via a QR code assigned to each worker. Additionally, all workers will receive safety beepers so that their position in site can be monitored in real time. If they enter dangerous areas or approach heavy equipment without prior approval, an alarm will be triggered. The site manager can check the workers’ entry and exit, work location and tasks through a control situation board, and take quick safety measures in the event of a dangerous situation.

Through this platform, DL E&C plans to effectively control worker’s access to the site and work areas, especially to fundamentally prevent unauthorized work that is likely to cause serious accidents. Since last year, DL E&C has introduced various improvement measures, including strengthened access control, certification system of safety training, expanded installation of CCTV and patrol system, in order to prevent arbitrary work conducted without approval from the site manager. The newly developed platform is expected to contribute to more efficient and effective on-site management, linking and integrating various safety activities and smart equipment that have been implemented so far.

DL E&C is building a Wi-Fi and LoRA (Long Range Radio)-based communication infrastructure in all areas of the site to introduce the new platform. After a pilot operation, the platform will first be introduced to housing sites this year and applied to all sites nationwide next year.

An official from DL E&C said, “We have revised our safety standardization guide based on reviews of our safety and health systems conducted in collaboration with external safety experts and partners, and developed an integrated smart safety control platform to implement and manage it in a sophisticated manner. We will continue to expand and link more diverse and sophisticated smart safety equipment to the platform in the future in order to do our best for preventing safety accidents.
