- Strengthening 'co-growth' with partner companies - focusing on 'trends' like smart technology and economic outlook
- ‘Customized education’ increases satisfaction – Achieved ‘best grade’ in co-growth index for 4 consecutive years

DL E&C announced on the 29th that it held an entrance ceremony for ‘a course for co-growth construction management’ at Chung-Ang University. This marks the third year of the course, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the partner companies and fostering co-growth. About 20 partner companies participated in this third term.

On this day, Chan-Kyu Lee, vice-president of administration at Chung-Ang University, delivered a special lecture on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Future Society” at the entrance ceremony. The entrance ceremony was attended by key features, including Chang-Sik Kim, DL E&C’s executive in charge of plant procurement, other employees and CEOs of partner companies.

The course will run for 15 weeks from this day, and includes seminar-style lectures by renowned professors at Chung-Ang University and special lectures by DL E&C employees, and other industry-academia collaborative programs. It provides a balanced mix of practical and theoretical knowledge and helps participants build human networks with experts and leaders from various fields. The tuition fees are fully covered by DL E&C.

DL E&C’s emphasis on enhancing partner companies’ competitiveness stems from the construction industry’s nature, where field issues, including quality, safety cost and construction period, are closely interconnected due to the high dependence on partner companies.

In the process of organizing this program, DL E&C created various contents based on keywords, including smart construction technology, quality improvement and regulatory trends, reflecting the latest trends and future issues. They also bolstered connections with new businesses like SMR (Small Modular Reactors) and hydrogen plants. From this year, a new training course is introduced to compare the management system of the construction industry with that of the manufacturing industry, and examine implications from the comparison. Unlike manufacturing industry that produces standardized products, the construction industry is considered a more challenging filed due to the complexity of process management.

Partner companies are also highly satisfied with the customized education. The course is made up of processes that not only identify the weak points of each company but also discover and improve the root causes of those weak points. Especially, DL E&C employees participate directly as instructors to vividly convey their rich experiences and cases in the field. Partner A specialized in civil engineering participates in this course every year and expresses high satisfaction with the educational course.

In 2022, DL E&C launched ‘a course for co-growth construction management’ in partnership with Chung-Ang University for the first time in the industry. The Company decided that it was necessary to go beyond simple support for partner companies and build a practical and sustainable co-growth system. Chung-Ang University, which established Korea’s first construction-focused grade school in 1983, is a leader in construction education.

In recognition of these efforts, DL E&C received the highest rating in the ‘co-growth index assessment’ for 4 consecutive years (from 2020 to 2023). The co-growth index is a system that assess the level of co-growth, such as fair trade, win-win cooperation activities and partner’s satisfaction, and assigns a 5-tier rating.

Chang-Sik Kim, DL E&C’s executive in charge of plant procurement, said, “Strengthening the competitiveness of our partner companies based on mutual growth will directly lead to DL E&C’s competitiveness. We will provide knowledge and insight necessary for the front line of management through customized programs that reflect current issues and trends.”
