DL E&C is targeting the global carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) markets with Korea’s carbon capture technology in alliance with KEPCO KEPRI (Korea Electric Power Research Institute). The company signed an MOU for comprehensive business cooperation to construct a mutual technology exchange system with KEPRI at its D Tower Donuimun head office. Both companies plan to perform mutual technology exchange targeting the global CCUS market, and KEPRI’s carbon capture technology will be vigorously adopted once DL E&C enters the overseas markets.

DL E&C will become a powerful assistant to customers, providing customized solutions to realize carbon neutrality and ESG vision based on outstanding technological competitiveness and experience in the CCUS business. DL E&C is committed to providing active support for KEPRI’s technology to be applied actively if it enters the global markets, including cooperating for technology advancement. Through this, it plans to prove Korean CCUS technology’s excellence and lay the foundation for becoming a carbon-neutral technology powerhouse in the global markets.

KEPRI has a technology (KoSol) for selectively absorbing and decomposing the massive amounts of carbon generated when fossil fuels burn. Among the domestic carbon capture technologies, KoSol is rated as being closest to commercialization due to high reliability and economic efficiency.

DL E&C is preparing to enter global CCUS markets as well as the domestic market. In March, it signed a preferential contract agreement to perform concept design and basic design for carbon capture, utilization, and storage facilities construction with Australian eco-friendly fertilizer manufacturer NeuRizer.

Starting with the Australian market, DL E&C aims to achieve KRW 1 trillion in cumulative orders from this year until 2024 in the CCUS business by expanding overseas business. By aggressively penetrating the global markets, the company plans to maintain annual orders of KRW 1 trillion steadily from 2025 to 2027 and expand up to KRW 2 trillion annually in 2030.

“KEPRI has the world’s top carbon capture technology beyond Korea, and DL E&C boasts of Korea’s first carbon capture plant commercialization experience and world-class carbon capture plant design abilities. We will actively publicize Korean CCUS technology to global clients and strive for the technology to be applied. We expect mutual synergy to be maximized,” DL E&C’s Plant Division Director Yu Jae-ho said.
