New Millennium Bridge

The Aphae-Amtae section 2 construction site completed the installation of the reinforcement girder of the 3-tower suspension bridge — a main sea route bridge of New Millennium Bridge — on January 5. The Iksan Regional Management and Construction Administrator and Shinan County Head attended the ceremony to offer their congratulations on the completion of reinforcement girder installation.

The last block of the reinforcement girder is installed.

The 1,750m long reinforcement girder weighing 10,000 tons was manufactured by being divided into 85 blocks. With the installation of a large block between the two towers commenced on October 27, 2017, all the 85 blocks were successfully installed within approximately 70 days.

The New Millennium Bridge project involves constructing a bridge connecting an unopened section of National Highway 2 linking Mokpo City and Shinan Islands and Isles. The highway was designed as a two-lane road with total length of 7,244m. The suspension bridge constructed by Daelim’s Civil Engineering Business Division will be built as a 3-tower suspension bridge for the first time in Korea. So far, zero accident was achieved, and construction is slated to be completed at the end of 2018.
