The project involves building a 1,190MW (two 595MW units) coal-fired thermal power plant within Bukypeong National Industrial Complex in Donghae City, Gangwon Province. As Korea’s largest privately funded power plant, the project was completed by Daelim Plant’s Business Division within 4 years and 8 months of construction commencement in December 2012.

Although construction was suspended temporarily since joint construction company STX Heavy Industries was under court receivership, Daelim Plant’s Business Division resumed construction in December 2016, led the project, and started commercial operations earlier than the schedule agreed upon with the client. Unit 1, which started commercial operations in March, is currently producing electric power stably, with Unit 2 set to be completed finally after the performance assurance tests this coming October.
