Three boiler heavy girders (53, 58, and 42 tons) were successfully installed at the Philippines’ SBPL 500MW CFPP site on August 8. Daelim Managing Director Lee Gyung-hee and SBPL’s CEO (client) attended the congratulatory ceremony to offer their congratulations for the successful installation of the girders.

A heavy girder refers to a large steel crossbeam installed to support the boiler body including drums and tubes. The site completed the installation of heavy girders earlier than expected even under unfavorable conditions such as delayed construction commencement due to the late provision of the construction site by the client. Such early completion enabled meeting the construction deadline and realizing cost savings.

The project is additionally building a new 500MW power plant at the coal-fired thermal power plant located in Mauban, Philippines. Daelim is constructing it as an ultra-super critical pressure* power plant for the first time in the Philippines. Daelim will carry out the project in EPC-lump sum turnkey fashion wherein Daelim is responsible for design, purchase, construction, and test run. The construction rate is currently about 25%, and commercial operation is slated for June 2019.

* Ultra-super critical pressure: A method of raising the operation steam condition of boiler and turbine beyond water’s critical point. Its economic feasibility and efficiency are higher than those of existing power plants.
