Hantan River Site Wins Bronze Prize on 2017 Civil Engineering Day

 Hantan River Dam

The Hantan River Dam won the bronze prize for Civil Engineering Structure of the Year in the 2017 Civil Engineering Day organized by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers on March 30.

The Hantan River Dam site was completed in December last year after a 10-year construction period. The site won the bronze prize in recognition of the flood control dam applying the RCD construction method* for the first time in Korea.

*RCD (Roller-Compacted Dam Concrete): A method of building a dam by hardening concrete without moisture with a vacuum roller. This shortens the construction period due to the smaller amount of cement used and shorter curing period compared to the existing construction method.
