Daelim CEO Kim Dong-su participated – as a representative of Korea’s large corporations – in the KOTRA-World Bank Group Forum held on November 5, 2014 at the Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel. This forum sought measures that will allow Korean companies to penetrate developing countries. Debates on the multi-party development bank’s role and the measures for cooperation between domestic and international financial institutions and private-public corporations to expand entry into developing countries were held, with World Bank Group (WBG) President Kim Yong, KDB Financial Group Chairman Hong Kit-taek, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water) CEO Choi Gye-woon, and others in attendance.

WBG provides funding support for companies investing in developing countries through International Financial Corporation (IFC), a private-investment agency affiliated with WBG, and offers guarantee insurance for political risks through MIGA. Daelim is currently engaged in the construction of three hydroelectric power plants in Nepal and Pakistan together with IFC and MIGA (USD 1.97 billion in all).

“Daelim concentrates its competencies on taking off as a global developer, based on the world’s top-tier EPC capabilities. The development projects in developing countries will play a pivotal role in view of our vision, and we want to participate in more development projects through cooperation with WBG,” CEO Kim Dong-su said in the forum.
