Daelim Applies for Design Registration
by Developing the Integrated Design of APT Complex Facilities

Daelim announced that it applied for design registration by developing integrated design for facilities within the APT complex on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Specifically, the company newly designed 26 kinds of facilities installed within e-Pyunhan Sesang APT complex including Pergola, bench, bicycle stand, and dumpsite after working on the designs for about two years.
The design has focused on usability through use behavior research rather than on decorations. Based on the simplicity of the Northern European style, Daelim manufactured all products in module form using eco-friendly materials. Aside from being eco-friendly and simple, Northern European design is also practical. Such design is enormously popular nowadays thanks to high durability and familiarity.

In keeping with such trend, Daelim performed the work together with Prof. Ha Ji-hoon of the Furniture Design Dept. at the Kaywon School of Art & Design. Prof. Ha majored in furniture design at the Danish Design School and received the Next-Generation Design Leader Award from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy and the Young Artist Award of the Year from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The design has shown unique work that is hard to find in other existing apartments, thanks to practical design that has improved user convenience despite its simplicity.

Daelim has adopted melamine – a new material – for the first time ever in Korea to overcome the limits of natural materials such as stone and wooden materials that are mainly used for the outdoor facilities of APT complexes. Melamine not only expresses the textures of natural materials in various ways; it does not easily break or decay as well, since it is strong against moisture. The emission of formaldehyde, an environmentally hazardous material, is at the natural emission level and is not harmful to the human body. Melamine is an eco-friendly material that can be fully recycled.

Moreover, facilities can be offered in various types suitable for the surrounding environment like LEGO blocks by manufacturing various parts into standardized modules. For the bench, it is made to apply different types ranging from “ㅡ” as the basic type to “ㄱ” and “ㄷ” using only two parts (prop and pillar) so that they can support outdoor community activities. Those benches have the merit of maintaining unified design between facilities within the APT complex, thanks to their standardized size and shape.

The design through the APT complex facilities – whose design registration was applied for – was applied to Gwanggyo e-Pyunhan Sesang where moving-in started recently. It is scheduled to be applied subsequently to the e-Pyunhan Sesang APT complexes in the future.
